About the Department

The origin of the Department of Commerce of Maulana Azad College dates back to 1971. Initially, the Department was established to impart the Higher Secondary Course only. The Under Graduate Course - B.Com.(Hons.) in Accounting and Finance has been started since the year 2000 with an initial intake of 30 seats which has gradually increased to 86 in 2024-25. The Department’s Vision is to achieve excellence in imparting quality education, fostering diversity along with inclusion and adopting sustainable practices conducive to students. The Department strives to achieve academic leadership, governance & management on one hand and focus on skill development, entrepreneurship skills etc. on the other hand. Since its inception, students of the Department have scored impressive marks in University Examinations. Many students who have passed out from this department are now well placed in several responsible positions.
